The Sky

The Sky

1. What is the Sky?

The sky is the area above the Earth where we see the sun, moon, stars, and clouds. It is a vast space that surrounds our planet and extends far beyond what we can see with our eyes. The sky changes colors throughout the day, from blue in the daytime to orange and pink during sunrise and sunset.

Imagine the sky as a big, beautiful ceiling that covers the Earth. Just like a ceiling in a room, the sky protects us and gives us a view of the world above.

2. The Sun

The sun is a big, bright star that provides light and warmth to the Earth. It is the center of our solar system and is responsible for making our planet warm and bright during the day. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and its light helps plants grow and gives us energy to play and learn.

Think of the sun as a giant light bulb in the sky. Just as a light bulb lights up a room, the sun lights up the Earth and makes everything bright and warm.

3. The Moon

The moon is Earth's natural satellite, which means it orbits around our planet. It reflects the light from the sun, making it visible at night. The moon has different phases, which means it looks different at different times. Sometimes it is a full circle, and other times it is just a sliver.

Imagine the moon as a big, round mirror in the sky. Just as a mirror reflects light, the moon reflects the sun's light and shines down on us at night.

4. Stars

Stars are huge balls of gas that give off light and heat. They are very far away from Earth, and we see them as tiny, twinkling dots in the sky at night. The stars help us navigate and tell stories in the night sky. Some stars are part of constellations, which are groups of stars that form patterns.

Think of stars as tiny, glowing diamonds scattered across the sky. Just as diamonds sparkle, stars twinkle and shine, making the night sky beautiful and magical.
